No signal, and the work goes on
In the basement, on the industrial estate, out in the countryside: where the signal does not reach, the mobile app keeps working. What is done is saved on the phone and sent to the office automatically when the connection returns.
What you can do without signal
- Add entries to the planning and reply in conversations.
- Request material.
- Tick off and send a checklist, with its photos.
- Create a work report, with the customer's signature.
- Upload photos and documents: they wait in the queue.
- Open the app with the phone's fingerprint, face or PIN, if quick access is turned on.
How it gets sent
There is nothing to do. The app's indicator changes from “Connected” to “Offline” and, when the signal returns, everything pending is sent automatically. The quickest way is to open the app when coverage returns: with the app closed, the phone sends it when the system allows, and it may take a while.
The settings show how many items are waiting in the queue. If something cannot be delivered, the app says so: what it was and why.
A work report signed without signal
The work report is saved and does not have to be redone. The PDF copy is passed to the customer on the spot, from phone to phone. The work report receives its number when it reaches the system, with the year in which it was signed.
What does need coverage
- Sending the work report to the customer by email.
- Viewing the project's list of documents, opening them and moving them to another folder.
- On a project with subcontractors, replying when the app has not yet been able to check who the reply is going to.
Questions
Is anything lost if the app is closed?
No. Everything pending stays saved on the phone and is sent when the app is opened again.
How do I know if something has not arrived?
The app warns that an item has not been delivered, with what it was and the reason. The settings also show how many items are waiting in the queue.
Does it use a lot of data?
Photos are reduced in size before being sent, so data usage is low.
